Respiratory Problems in children with neurological disfunction

Introduction
In this we will go into exercise physiology of children as well as respiratory problems, often as complications of neurological disorder or developmental delay. We will provide with asessement tools and possible therapeutic interventions for different kinds of problems. 

Goals
After following this course you:
  • Know the general principles of respiratory management for childeren with neurological disorders or developmental delay;
  • Uncerstand exercise physiology for children; 
  • You can select relevant assessment tools and perform an assessment;
  • You can conclude your assessment with a clinical diagnosis;
  • You can make a treatment plan with short term and long term goals;
  • You can select your goals in correspondence tot the ICF and place these in a RPS form;
  • You can use techonology to reach your goals and document these;
  • You can demonstrate assessment and treatment skills with a given case.

Program
Day 1
The first day we will discuss general principles of respiratory management and exercise physiology. We will identify different evidence based methods for assessment and perform these. 

Day 2

We will teach you various methods for airway clearance and when to use wich. You will practice the various methods and solve diverse cases. We will go in to aerobics for handicapped children and stress the need for functional movement and exercise.

Preparation

We will send you a study guide with articles and other reading material. You will make a case of one of your patients, film a short video and formulate a clinical question te be answered.

After concluding the course and the preparation, you will recieve a certificat of THIM, University of Applied Sciences
