Disorders of the Spine: a modern approach

In this course, you will learn the last insights in treating problems of the spine. Specific cervical and thoracic-lumbar spine problems are included in this course. You will learn evidence based assessment tools and skills and receive practical feedback. With cases we will focus on treatment skills and functional movement. Technology will be used for assessment and for example serious gaming for treatment. 

After following this course you can:
  • You know the most frequent disorders of the cervical, lumbar and thoracic spine;
  • You can select relevant questionnaires for examination of the spine;
  • You can select relevant assessment tools and perform an assessment;
  • You can conclude your assessment with a clinical diagnosis;
  • You can make a treatment plan with short term and long term goals;
  • You can select your goals in correspondence tot the ICF and place these in a RPS form;
  • You can demonstrate assessment and treatment skills with a given case.

Day 1
The first day we will focus on assessment. Several disorders of the spine will pass and we will discuss wich assessment tools are best picked on basis of recent evidence. We will select questionnaires and measurements to be able to come to a clinical diagnosis.

Day 2:

The second day we will focus on treatment. We will use the ICF and the RPS form to compose short term and long term goals for example on mobility, strength and functioning in daily life. We will choose measurements to assess these goals. We will practice therapeutic skills and do several cases. 

We will send you a study guide with articles and other reading material. You will make a case of one of your patients, film a short video and formulate a clinical question te be answered. 

After concluding the course and the preparation, you will recieve a certificat of THIM, University of Applied Sciences
